The Confident Girl’s Handbook

Do you ever look at some girls and marvel at how secure in themselves they are? They have no problem talking to their crush, they never go red when asked to talk in a large group, they don’t even let a bad hair day get in their way.  These girls don’t necessarily have to be jaw dropping stunning to have this ora about them, but some girls just rock a confident demeanour. No they’re not aliens from Planet Confidence, they’re normal people like you and me.

If your bad days are outnumbering your good ones and you need a little “pick me up” from the confidence aisle, I GOT YOU GIRL!

The Confident Girl Knows: Acting Confident leads to Feeling Confident

Ever heard of the saying ‘Fake it Till You Make it’ and never actually understood what it meant? Well basically, it works. This doesn’t mean you have to act fake or pretend to be someone you’re not but if you project an image of confidence and positivity (even on days when you feel like crap) eventually your good vibes will rub off other people in turn they will start to treat you differently and you’ll have no choice but to believe in yourself more. If someone is telling you that you’re Beyonce are you really gonna argue with them that you think you’re more of a Michelle? HELL NAH! You’re gonna have no choice but to own it. Put it this way, if your at a party and there’s two girls; one slouched in the corner making zero eye contact with anyone and another one smiling and having fun which one would you rather go talk to? Exactly. Be that approachable, fun girl and you’ll see the benefits that come with it.

The Confident Girl Knows: If at First you Don’t Succeed……

Sing it like Aaliyah (R.I.P) “If at First you Don’t Succeed, Then You Pick Yourself up and Try Again!” Rejection is a horrible thing but unfortunately that’s LIFE. If your confidence gets knocked anytime something doesn’t work out for you then you may as well never bother trying at anything. Whether it’s looking for a job, dating or exams, success doesn’t come easy and you have to be willing to keep trying in order to get what you really want in any area of your life. The true test of your confidence is if you can survive a bump in the road. I know how hard it is to want something really bad, work extremely hard for it and have it right under your nose thinking your going to get it then BAM another person comes in and gets it before you have a chance to grip onto it. This doesn’t mean you’re not good enough though, sometimes people are looking for different things but that doesn’t mean the next person isn’t waiting for a person JUST LIKE YOU. Keep trying and stay confident because nothing worth having comes easy!!

The Confident Girl Knows: Self Belief is Key

If you don’t believe in yourself then who the hell is going to? In order to be truly happy you have to be comfortable and happy in your own skin. It’s hard to not compare yourself to other people when it seems like it’s all about outer appearance these days (Instagram I’m looking at you!) but at the end of the day how you feel about yourself is 10x more important than how anyone else thinks of you. Confidence comes from within so remember you’re a unique individual and there’s only one you, as corny as it sounds!

A bird sitting on a tree is never afraid of the branch breaking, because her trust is not on the branch but her own wings. Believe in yourself.

The Confident Girl Knows: It’s Good to Be Different

If anyone knows what it’s like to feel different it’s this girl right here. Being known as “Black Danielle” in Ireland and “Irish Danielle” in Canada you can guess I’m not your average girl ha-ha. When you’re younger it’s hard to look at your differences/flaws and not wish you were like the other kids who you thought were the ‘normal ones’. But as you get older it’s so much easier to embrace everything unique about yourself and use it as your trademark. Cara Delevingne was teased about her big eyebrows now that’s what she’s known for. Tyra Banks used to hate her big forehead then decided she was going to rock it. Everyone has things that make them different and different is good! Nobody wants to be a sheep, basic b*tch, average joe etc. these days so embrace your uniqueness, love yourself and it just may be the key to happiness and success.

Nobody’s perfect so don’t put so much pressure on yourself to try to be, Kay?!!! 🙂
