Is there anything worse than feeling bad about yourself? When you look in the mirror and don’t like what you see. You feel too fat, your hair isn’t long enough, your teeth aren’t perfect, you don’t have clear skin. The list is endless.
We all have things about ourselves we dislike and sometimes our insecurities can take over our lives and make us feel worthless, like we’re never good enough.
The root of most insecurities is society. If you’re not what society describes as “beautiful” then you might as well climb under a rock. Since when is this acceptable though seriously? I know SO MANY amazing women and girls who have barely any confidence.
Just because you don’t look like a Victoria’s Secret model doesn’t mean you’re not beautiful. Come on girls give yourself some more credit.
There’s just too much expectations to look good these days. We’re expected to have a perfect, hairless body, big boobs and bum, flat tummy, long glossy hair, big eyes, white teeth, clear tanned skin, have our make-up nice BUT still be natural and don’t forget all the up to date clothes. ARE YOU JOKING ME?! Even writing that I just sighed and said “what a huge effort”. It’s not just girls though, boys are expected to have the perfect body, nice clothes and shoes, good looking face, nice eyes etc. We’re all so superficial but can you blame us?
It’s just one huge competition. But for what? So we sleep better at night knowing we looked better than someone on a night out? So we have a better chance of getting the boy we want? Who knows seriously.
Too many days are wasted comparing ourselves to others and wishing to be something we aren’t. Everybody has their own strengths and weaknesses, and it is when you accept everything you are, and aren’t, that you will truly succeed.
You might not see the beauty in yourself, but I guarantee there’s at least one (if not many) people that do! 😀
Everyone has flaws. Absolutely everyone, even Beyonce!
“Beauty isn’t about having a pretty face. It’s about having a pretty mind, a pretty heart and most importantly a beautiful soul.”
