The World Is Your Oyster

Travel. As far as you can. As long as you can. Life’s not meant to be lived in one place.

I think it’s fair to say it’s on everyone’s wish list to travel the world, but out of all those people who actually gets to see the places they desire? Not many at all.

This can be because of many different reasons.

  1. Expenses– travelling is not a cheap thing to do I tell you. It takes people about 6 months to save up enough money to go on a vacation for a week or two, so can you even imagine how much it would be to actually go place to place? Firstly it depends where you’re going. If you live in America it would be a lot cheaper to drive state-to-state in comparison for Europeans to get a plane to countries less than an hour away. If you plan on travelling I would definitely advise you on working hard for a solid 12 months then you can enjoy your first couple of months away before you get a job again.
  2. Plans Change- Moving away from home can be a very scary thing. Whether you’re going for 2 weeks, 2 months or 2 years it can be a big step to leave what you’re used to doing and starting a brand new routine. A lot of people have dreams of travelling but when push comes to shove, they just can’t bring themselves to go. They’re so indecisive that they literally let any excuse stop them from going. “I can’t go to Australia, my goldfish died” NO, you’re just thinking of all the negative things rather than the positive things. There’s nothing wrong with being a home-bird. Plenty of people are content with their life and have no intention of travelling which is all well and good but do you really wanna live not knowing what’s outside of your city? I certainly don’t.
  3. Something Unexpected Happens- Unlike the reasons above, sometimes somethings can happen that are completely out of your hands. God forbids, someone close to you could become really sick or even pass away and of course the last thing you want to do is go enjoying life to the fullest regardless of what people say. Another thing that could happen is you could meet someone really amazing and be willing to postpone travelling in order for a chance to find true love. OR…. (this is the cutest) you could find out you are carrying a bundle of joy. Let’s be realistic I doubt you’re up for partying in Thailand when you have a little baby on the way? 🙂

They’re the only excuses I will allow for someone to tell me reasons why they cannot travel. Lazy? Don’t wanna hear it. Can’t find anyone to go with? Go by yourself! Can’t decide where to go? Spin a bloody globe with your eyes close and randomly choose!

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. We can’t choose where we come from, but we can choose where we go from there.
